Adrien Harraway was named director of academic affairs for football at the University of Virginia in June of 2007. His responsibilities include monitoring the academic performance and coordinating eligibility review for all student-athletes in the football program, managing and coordinating services with various departmental and University offices, coordinating student-athlete orientations, and maintaining appropriate files and records.

Prior to his appointment as director of academic affairs for football, Harraway served as academic coordinator/assistant director of academic affairs for football.

Harraway joined the Virginia athletics department staff in July of 2005 as an academic coordinator. In that position, he provided academic advising, counseling and support for student-athletes in the areas of course selection, registration procedures, degree requirements, career planning, University resources and academic performance. His duties included the supervision of the football study hall program, tracking student-athlete progress toward graduation and assisting former players who return to UVa to complete their degree requirements.

He came to Virginia after earning a master's degree in higher and postsecondary education from Arizona State. While at Arizona State, he worked as a graduate assistant in the area of academic support with the football program.

Harraway worked as an administrative intern for the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics from 2002-2003. He was awarded the association's John McLendon Memorial Minority Postgraduate Scholarship in 2003.

A graduate of Northern Iowa, Harraway earned his degree in business administration in 2002. He earned two letters as a member of the Panthers' football team and played for UNI's Gateway Conference championship squad in 2001.
