Wendy Sewack joined Virginia's Academic Affairs staff in the fall of 2003. She works as an academic coordinator and is an academic advisor to 250 student athletes on nine Olympic sport teams and members of the men's and women's basketball programs. She coordinates the tutor program, hiring, training and supervising that staff. Sewack's duties also include supervising the study hall for the UVa Olympic sport student-athletes
Sewack track the progress of student-athletes toward their degree, conducts mentoring sessions with freshman, transfers, and at risk students and presents recruiting informational sessions to prospective student athletes and parents. She developed the website for Academic Affairs.
Prior to working at UVa, Sewack was the director of athletic academic services at Winthrop from 2002 to 2003. She was the department's academic advisor to 250 student athletes on sixteen teams. Her previous experiences including working as an intern in the counseling program for the Connecticut football program and serving as an athletic counselor at Springfield.
Sewack earned her bachelor's degree in psychology and sports counseling from Connecticut in 2000. She completed her master's of education in athletic counseling from Springfield College in 2002.
