WORTH NOTING: Returning co-captain S preseason All-American S a hard worker who does everything well ... very reliable, on and off the field S 66 career assists and 132 career points lead all returning Cavaliers.

AT VIRGINIA: 1999-Started all 16 games on attack S third-team All-American S scored a career-high 25 goals, while adding 22 assists (fifth in the ACC) S led team with three assists vs. Rutgers and two against Massachusetts S scored a season-high four goals, and added an assist, in regular season win over Maryland S two goals and an assist in ACC Finals win over Duke S three goals, two assists vs. Stony Brook S team-high three assists in win over Butler S paced Virginia with four goals and two assists in NCAA quarterfinal win over Delaware S game-high three assists in NCAA semifinal win over Johns Hopkins S tallied twice in title game vs. Syracuse S named to the ACC Honor Roll for his academic work and athletic participation.
1998-Played in 13 games, earning honorable mention All-America honors S also won team's Offensive MVP award S ranked second in the ACC and 10th nationally with a career-high 24 assists S scored a goal and had three assists in the season opener vs. Syracuse S one goal and two assists in the upset of Princeton S had a career-high five assists in a dramatic 12-11 win over Duke on April 11 S moved out front from behind the cage and scored a career-high five goals as UVa defeated Duke in the ACC Tournament six days later, tying the game and then scoring the game-winner in the fourth quarter S made ACC All-Tournament team S one goal and two assists in the NCAA quarterfinal game vs. Syracuse.
1997-Finished third in scoring (42 points) and assists (20), and sixth in goals (22) S had a great first collegiate game in UVa's season opener against Syracuse ... scored two goals and dished out four assists against the Orangemen S scored game-winning goal with 2:21 remaining in double overtime in Virginia's 15-14 win over Maryland on March 29 S also had an assist in that game S other performances included: three goals, one assist vs. Pennsylvania; two goals, one assist vs. Johns Hopkins; two goals vs. VMI; two goals, two assists at Duke; one goal, two assists vs. North Carolina in semifinals of ACC Tournament; and three goals, three assists vs. Bucknell.

HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in basketball, football and lacrosse at Norfolk Academy S two-time All-American in lacrosse and three times All-State and All-Prep S scored 12 goals and had four assists for the U.S. 19-Under team in 1996 S All-Prep and All-State in football.

PERSONAL: Born 10-27-77 in Newport News, Va. S son of Alice and Smokey McKnight S National Merit Scholarship finalist at Norfolk Academy S father played baseball at West Virginia S economics major.
