Today's attendance of 47,062 sets an NCAA championship game record. The combined attendance numbers from the Division I semifinal and championship games along with the Division II and III championships is highest in NCAA history.

2006 was Virginia coach Dom Starsia's 12th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, making him fourth all-time.

Virginia's Matt Ward finished the NCAA Tournament with 16 goals in four games for a new NCAA record. He had 22 total points in the tourney.

Matt Ward and Matt Poskay from UVA each had five goals in today's championship tying for third.

Since 1992 only four teams (Princeton, Syracuse, Virginia and Johns Hopkins) have won the NCAA title with Virginia winning three in that span. UVA has now won four all-time.

Virginia is just the 12th team to go undefeated in a season and holds the record for the most wins with 17.

The six goals by Virginia in the third quarter tied the team for third in tournament records.
