Charlottesville, Va. - Virginia men's lacrosse player Ben Rubeor has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America At-Large third team announced this week. In addition to lacrosse, the At-Large team includes athletes from fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

A rising senior from Towson, Md., Rubeor was one of the nation's leading players this spring and was instrumental in his team's 12-4 record. He earned first-team All-American honors for his play after scoring 46 goals and recording 68 points. The 46 goals rank fourth in school history, while the 68 points are ninth. He also earned All-ACC honors this season for the second year in a row.

Rubeor is majoring in English and has a 3.58 GPA.

He was one of seven lacrosse players named to one of the three Division I Academic All-America At-Large teams. Mitch Belisle and Matt McMonagle from Cornell, and Dartmouth's Nick Bonacci named to the first team. Duke's Ed Douglas was selected to the second team, while Greg Rommel of Syracuse and Paul Rabil from Johns Hopkins joined Rubeor on the third-team.
