Josh Walker is in his second season as a volunteer assistant coach at Virginia. Walker assists Pat DeGain in working with the upper weight divisions.
Walker, a 2005 graduate of Penn State, joined the Cavalier staff after a stellar career at Penn State. In four years with the Nittany Lions, Walker posted an 84-29 career record. In his final season with the Nittany Lions, Walker went 18-8 overall, 5-2 in dual meets, before having back surgery to end his senior season. He posted seven falls in 2004-05.
Walker served as team captain during his senior season. He ranks fourth all-time in career pins (33) at Penn State. He earned the 11th man award and the Larry Reilly Courage Award.
Off the mat, he served as vice president for the Student Athlete Advisory Board. Walker earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism in May, 2005.
He and his wife Carrene were married this past summer. The couple resides in Charlottesville.
