Christina Kirkaldy, who backstopped the Spartans to national prominence with two trips to the national semifinals and their first-ever No. 1 national ranking, has joined the Virginia hockey staff for the 2006 season. The 2002 National Rookie of the Year after leading Michigan State to their first-ever national semifinals, Kirkaldy brings an impressive playing resume to Charlottesville.
A four-time All-Regional and All-Conference honoree, Kirkaldy was named to the California High Performance Team as part of the USFHA EPTC National Championships in 2006. During the tournament, she led all players in saves, notching at least ten per game. Kirkaldy started her association with the USA National Teams program in 1998 as a member of the U-16 team; she was invited to A-Camp in 2001.
A veteran of the camp circuit, Kirkaldy has also assisted at the Empire State Games. She earned her degree in Recreation Services from Michigan State in 2006.
