Michelle Vizzuso, a current member of the US National Team who won a silver medal in the 1999 Pan Am Games, returns to Charlottesville as a member of the coaching staff in 1999. She finished her stellar collegiate career with a number of records, and ranks 11th all-time in Division I with 60 career assists.

A four-time All-American, Vizzuso was a first-team selection in 1997 and 1998. She led the Cavaliers in scoring in 1998 with 53 points, which is the fourth-best single-season in school history. She smashed the record for career assists with 60, is the only person in ACC history with 50+ career goals and 60+ career assists, and is the only person in UVA history to to have more than 20 assists in a single season, which she did twice (97, 98). She is Virginia's all-time leader in career game-winning assists (13), games played (90), ranks third all-time in scoring (160), which is 8th all-time in the ACC, and 5th all-time at UVA with 50 goals. She has been a member of US National teams since 1995, including the senior national team since 1997.
