Colleen Shearer, in her tenth season with the Virginia staff, has been a part of the coaching staff for both of the ACC title teams at Virginia and has helped lead the team twice to back-to-back appearances in the NCAA title game.
Shearer also serves the lacrosse community as a clinician and camp director and has served on the USLacrosse All-American committee.
She began her coaching career with an impressive stint as the head coach at Wagner University in Staten Island, NY. Smith was the inaugural coach of the Seahawks program, starting the Division I program from scratch.
A former member of the United States National Developmental Team, Shearer was a three-time All-American at Rowan and was named captain her senior year. She led the Profs to the 1995 NCAA Tournament, their first appearance in the championships. Shearer led the nation in assists in both 1994 and 1995 and she finished her collegiate career ranked fourth all-time in assists. She also holds two of the top eight single-season point totals in NCAA history.
Shearer and her husband Matt are the proud parents of Mattison Elizabeth, born August 28, 2003.
