Former Cavalier goalkeeper Jodi Clugston, will contribute as an undergraduate assistant coach for a third season in 2004. Her collegiate playing career ended prematurely three years ago after she sustained two serious head injuries.
Clugston started in 23 games from 2000 to 2001, while allowing 29 goals in 2199 minutes of action (1.19 gaa) and registering nine career shutouts. Her nine shutouts are the sixth most in school history. Her career 1.19 goals against average and 72 career saves rank seventh and eighth respectively at Virginia. She played in 13 games--with 12 starts--as a sophomore in 2001, posting five shutouts and allowing just 10 goals (.83 gaa). She led UVa to a 10-1-1 record in her 12 starts, including two NCAA Tournament victories.
Clugston was a NSCAA and Parade All-American during her career at Upper Perkiomen High School. She also was a member of the U.S. U-18 National Team.
She has been part of the Region I goalkeeping staff since 2001. Additionally, she assisted at Albemarle High School in 2003 and helped that program advance to the postseason.
A fourth-year from Red Hill, Pa., Clugston is majoring in education.
